Aljex Software adds carrier tracking from FourKites

Aljex Software and FourKites announced a partnership that they say will vastly improve the ability of freight brokers and shippers to access truck locations and status with real-time data from the industry’s largest telematics providers.

Carrier tracking from FourKites is now integrated into the hosted transportation management software from Aljex, giving its customers access to much of the same real-time truck locations and ETAs as carriers themselves, without leaving the Aljex system.

“Integration with FourKites puts the services of the industry’s largest telematics and mobile communications providers to work for Aljex customers,” said Aljex CEO Tom Heine. “We look forward to a long, mutually beneficial relationship with FourKites.”

Unlike other tracking options available to freight brokers and 3PLs, FourKites does not depend on a driver’s personal or company-issued cell phone and a downloaded app. Instead, FourKites has agreements with the leading telematics providers to the trucking industry, including Omnitracs and PeopleNet, among others.

With these agreements in place, FourKites only requires authorization from the individual carrier to make the carrier’s tracking information available to brokers in real time. That information includes pickup confirmation, geo-fencing data, real-time locations, and ETAs.
