The American Trucking Associations 2009 President’s Award winner and Former President of the Maine Motor Transport Association Dale Hannington has designated the American Transportation Research Institute as the recipient of the award’s $10,000 grant. Hannington was presented the ATA President’s award, sponsored by J.J. Keller & Associates Inc., at the 2009 ATA Management Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nev.

“The ATRI Board of Directors greatly appreciates Mr. Hannington’s contribution to our ongoing research program, and we congratulate him for his outstanding service and accomplishments on behalf of the trucking industry,” said ATRI President and Chief Operating Officer Rebecca Brewster. “This grant will help ATRI advance its work on several critical research studies addressing top industry issues.”

The ATA President’s Award and $10,000 check is given annually to a state trucking association executive in recognition of his or her service to the trucking industry. After receiving the award, the executive then designates a trucking industry education and research organization to receive the $10,000 grant. Hannington, the longtime president of the Maine Motor Transport Association, retired at the end of 2009.

Previous winners who also designated ATRI as the grant recipient include John Hausladen of the Minnesota Trucking Association, Karen Rasmussen of the Arizona Trucking Association, Jim Runk of the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association, George Burruss of the Missouri Trucking Association and Tom Howells of the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association.
