ATRI recruits carriers for operational costs research

Updated Apr 2, 2013

The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) is inviting for-hire motor carriers to participate in an online survey that will lead to a 2012 update of its ongoing Operational Costs of Trucking report. Operational cost data for individual carriers will be kept confidential. When combined with previous Operational Costs of Trucking reports, the survey results will yield five years — 2008 to 2012 — of trucking cost information obtained directly from motor carriers. In addition to offering carriers with a benchmarking tool, the research provides government agencies with data to help analyze the impact of future infrastructure improvements.

The survey will capture basic cost information, such as driver pay, fuel costs, insurance premiums and lease or purchase payments. Carriers are asked to provide full year 2012 cost per mile and/or cost per hour data. The survey is available online at www.atri-online.org. Results will be available later this year.
