Transportation app creator BigRoad announced that its smart phone app for truckers and fleets has reached 47.000 downloads. With a ranking of 4.75 stars out of 5 it has become the top rated trucking app and top electronic log app for the Android platform.

The BigRoad team is showcasing its app at the 2013 Mid-America Trucking Show taking place March 21-23, 2013 at the Kentucky Exposition Centre in Louisville KY.

BigRoad plans to make its app available on the iPhone and iPad this Spring.

Launched to market in July 2012, BigRoad’s app is used by truckers and small fleets in every US state and every Canadian province.  The app is specifically designed with truck drivers and small fleet owners in mind. It replaces paper logbooks with a smart phone-based electronic logging system. Additional features include in-app messaging, real-time GPS-based navigation with traffic monitoring, and the ability to exchange photos and document records for payroll, POD and vehicle/load damage.

“In just a year, we have reached nearly 50,000 downloads of the app by drivers who represent more than 200 million cubic feet of capacity.  We also have more than 1,000 fleets using the system,” says BigRoad CEO Kelly Frey.

“Originally our drivers were apprehensive about converting to electronic logs for HOS compliance. But they quickly embraced the change.  We now have BigRoad on tablets in every one of our 28 trucks and our drivers simply love the app. I would highly recommend it to a small fleet looking to move off paper,” says Dawn Collier, operations manager of TJ Stidham Transportation in Plant City, Fla.

BigRoad’s app for Android is available free for download from Google Play at this site.

The Fleet-enabled version of BigRoad is $15 per month per vehicle. A free trial of the fleet version can be found at this site
