On the heels of its announcement of an order of 100 compressed natural gas-powered trucks from Ryder, C.A.T. announced an agreement with U.S. Oil to build five GAIN Clean Fuel CNG stations in the United States and Canada. The new station sites will be located in Toronto, Montreal, Laredo, Texas, Charlotte, N.C. and Scranton, Penn. U.S. Oil currently has 38 GAIN stations in operation or under construction.
“The partnership with U.S. Oil is critical to our business needs”, said Daniel Goyette, C.A.T. president. “These new stations will be strategically located and pair well with existing GAIN stations throughout the country to create the nationwide network we need.”“We understand the importance of CNG in our industry, and this partnership is very important for C.A.T. and our company’s commitment to the future.”
U.S. Oil also building a CNG station for Ruan Transportation in Des Moines, Iowa.
“CNG use in the dedicated contract carriage industry is growing, and this not only gives us a competitive advantage by offering an additional lower cost fueling choice, it helps us meet our sustainability goals,” said Steve Chapman, Ruan’s CEO. “We believe it’s more than just good business, it’s a commitment to making our trucking operations part of the equation when it comes to the stewardship of the environment.” Ruan currently has 85 CNG tractors in the Midwest with plans to expand to additional units where there is a fit for CNG.
