Flatbed fleet conglomerate Daseke Inc. will begin next month awarding its truck drivers an estimated one million shares of common stock worth an estimated $9.9 million.

The company will award approximately 2,100 drivers and 800 other employees who are employed by Daseke companies and who were with a Daseke company in 2016 with the stock grants. Stock grants will also be made to company drivers and other employees who join the company in 2017.

“We want professional truck drivers and all our support team employees to have ownership in Daseke,” says Daseke President and CEO Don Daseke. “To our knowledge, we are the first public for-hire trucking company to have a program that makes professional truck drivers company shareholders.

Initial stock grants for those who were employed by Daseke on Dec. 31, 2016, will be issued beginning in June. Drivers who are hired in 2017 will receive the grants after a full quarter of service with the company, so drivers hired in the first quarter will begin receiving the grants in July.

Daseke went public earlier this year and trades on NASDAQ under trade symbol DSKE.
