women in truckingThe deadline is approaching for nominations for the 2016 Women In Trucking “Distinguished Woman in Logistics” award (DWLA), which recognizes the achievements and leadership of outstanding individuals involved in the practice of logistics in North America.

Anyone may nominate a candidate by downloading, completing and submitting the nomination form at www.womenintrucking.com/DWLA by December 31, 2015.

Co-sponsored this year by TMW Systems and Truckstop.com, the DWLA program is open to high-performing women in any field related to the practice of logistics, including warehousing, traffic and shipping, supply chain management, third-party logistics, trucking, rail, and maritime cargo. Recipient of the inaugural DWLA, presented earlier this year, was Kristy Knichel, president of Knichel Logistics, Gibsonia, Pa.

“The vast and growing practice of logistics represents one of the transportation industry’s most rewarding career opportunities, yet recent studies have shown that women hold fewer than one in four of these jobs,” said Monica Truelsch, director of marketing, TMW Systems. “This award program highlights the very talented and accomplished women who are making important contributions to the field. By recognizing their success, we hope to attract hundreds of additional women to our industry.”

The winner of the 2016 DWLA will be announced during the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) “Capital Ideas” Conference and Exhibition, April 6-9, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas.

Members of the judging panel for the DWLA are: Adrian Gonzalez, president, Adelante SCM; Kate Miller, president, Blue Edge Marketing Ltd.; Diane A. Mollenkopf, Ph.D., McCormick associate professor of logistics and director, Ph.D. program in supply chain management, University of Tennessee; Fred Moody, editor and publisher, Logistics Quarterly; and Ellen Voie, president of Women in Trucking Association.
