Deadlines, deadlines

Things get pretty busy around the offices here at CCJ when we’re fully under way with production on our monthly magazine. In addition to writing and editing articles, tracking down art and approving pages designed by our talented art directors, we also continue to keep tabs on the daily breaking news for our Websites and social media outlets. It can be a mad scramble, but it always seems to get done.

Just like in trucking. Even when there’s literally tons of loads to be hauled to many different customers, inevitably the logistics seem to work out, and most everyone is happy with the end result. That’s not to say that everyone doesn’t always remain calm in the meantime – I’m sure there’s quite a bit of hand-wringing and silent cursing along the way when things don’t go quite as well as planned.

The difference, or course, is that we here at CCJ normally get stressed out behind our desks, while truckers have to deal with it behind the wheel in traffic. That’s a whole different animal, but somehow they manage to stay focused and get the job done – safely and, for the most part, on time.

Coming from someone who has a small inkling of what it’s like when the pressure’s on, here’s to you, truckers, for handling your own deadline pressures and keeping it together on the road.
