When USG Corp. sponsored the Sheetrock 400 and Durock 300 NASCAR races on July 8-9 at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Ill., Decker Truck Line got in on the action.

Because of the long-standing business relationship between the companies, Decker was selected to furnish two trucks and trailers to display USG products near the public entrance to the speedway.

The Fort Dodge, Iowa-based carrier also recently selected Michael Featherston as its August 2006 Driver/Owner-Operator of the Month for the flatbed division. Featherston lives in Wilmer, Texas, with his wife, Pamela. He is based out of the Birmingham, Ala., terminal and has been with Decker since March 2002.

Selected as Driver of the Month for the reefer/van division was Chris Cordie, who resides in Klemme, Iowa, with his wife, Jamie, and their three kids. Cordie has been with Decker since November 2005.

Drivers and owner-operators are nominated each month by their dispatcher and are selected based on their overall performance within all areas of the company, including operational productivity, safety record, maintenance/care of equipment (including idle time), payroll and billing, and customer service. All drivers and owner-operators who are selected as a Driver of the Month will be eligible to be chosen as Driver/Owner-Operator of the Year.
