Diesel price dips slightly to $3.909

The latest rising streak for diesel prices ends at four weeks as the national retail price for on-highway diesel fell 0.6 cents to $3.909 a gallon during the week ended Aug. 5, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. Diesel prices nationwide are 5.9 cents higher than the same week last year.

Average prices fell in all but three regions, led by the Rocky Mountain region with a 1.8-cent increase. Other regions with an increase were the West Coast and California, which has the highest diesel price on average at $4.133 a gallon. The nation’s cheapest diesel on average is $3.841 a gallon in the Gulf Coast region, barely edging out the Lower Atlantic at $3.845 a gallon.
