Average diesel price falls 3.4 cents

The national average retail diesel price dropped 3.4 cents to $4.116 a gallon during the week ended Oct. 22, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. The latest weekly price is 29.1 cents above the same week last year.

The average diesel price fell in all regions except New England, which might be seeing a bit of price pressure from pre-winter home heating oil buying. Prices were up just 0.5-cent in that region. The largest drop was 5.2 cents in California, which nevertheless still has the nation’s most expensive on average at $4.385 per gallon. The Gulf Coast region has the least expensive diesel on average at $3.999 a gallon and is the only region where the average price is below $4 a gallon.

Complete diesel price information is available on EIA’s Website.

The oil companies are holding American hostage. There is no reason for these prices to be over 2 bucks a gallon. I know some states, counties and townships think that trucks have bottomless pockets when it comes to taxes but not to this extent.  No way is the  combined local and federal taxes on a gallon of fuel $3 bucks or more. Nor is is the wages or transportation. It is wholly the greed of the oil companies. They  used to brag publicly about the billions a month profits they made. Now not so loudly. Over the years the cost of cracking crude oil has not increased to this outrageous amount..  Asking congress to investigate the oil companies is a moot point. Far too may key Congressmen are in the oil companies pockets.  Congress will not shoot the goose that is laying them the golden egg. It would be nice if congress or the Senate could or would do something about it but that is just pissing in the wind. In another 4 years if the wrong person gets reelected  president it will be a moot point and the  hardship will be the users of natural gas and heating oil going through the roof and no body has a job.

Sinclair is the only wholly American owned oil company.

i really like your coment, i am a trucking company owner. i cant seem to make ends meet because of the high price of diesel. i really wish that at least 5-10 members of the senate were honest and do their job, we would have a better economy...but if even our president is in their pocket, then is no hope.

it is nothing wrong with making money, but not bluntly just charge the high price only because they can, and we need the fuel to keep going....

We need to unite, together we can make a difference, this country was created with the strong beleave in democracy. but this oil people had created a monopoli, and it needs to be BROKEN!!!
