Diesel price unchanged at $3.981

The national retail price for on-highway diesel remained at $3.981 a gallon during the week ended Sept. 9, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration. That’s the first time since November 2010 that the national average did not change at all from one week to the next. Diesel prices nationwide are 15.1 cents lower than the same week last year.

Average prices rose in six regions and fell in four. The largest increase was 1.5 cents in California, which has nation’s most expensive diesel on average at $4.225 a gallon. The largest decrease was 1.3 cents in the Lower Atlantic, where the average price is now $3.917. The Gulf Coast region has the nation’s lowest diesel price on average at $3.898 a gallon.
