Diesel prices continue recent downward trend

Diesel fuel prices across the United States dropped an average of 2.2 cents during the week ending Nov. 21, according to the Department of Energy’s weekly report.

The U.S.’ average price for a gallon of on-highway diesel is now $2.421, keeping prices above the $2.40 mark for the seventh consecutive week.

Prices fell in all regions across the country with the most significant decrease coming in the Rocky Mountain region, where prices fell 3.7 cents.

The nation’s most expensive diesel can be found in California at $2.804 per gallon, followed by the West Coast less California region at $2.637 per gallon.

The cheapest fuel can be found in the Gulf Coast region at $2.296 per gallon, followed by the Lower Atlantic region at $2.355 per gallon.

Prices in other regions, according to the DOE, are:

  • New England – $2.471
  • Central Atlantic – $2.549
  • Midwest – $2.356
  • Rocky Mountain – $2.455
