Donaldson’s Young Chung elected president of Fiber Society

Donaldson Co., a manufacturer of filtration systems and parts, recently announced that Young Chung, Fellow at Donaldson, has been elected president of the Fiber Society for 2008. Chung is serving a one-year term.

The Fiber Society was founded in 1941 with current membership at 500 strong. As members, individuals become a part of an international research community that is committed to the advancement of scientific knowledge pertaining to fibers, fiber-based products and fibrous materials. As president of the Fiber Society, Young will set direction for the society, hold two technical conferences and act as spokesperson for the Fiber Society community.

“Young has been with us for 26 years, and he has been a pivotal part of our activities around nanofiber research, polymer science and nanofiber chemistry,” says Deb Wilfong, chief technology officer at Minneapolis-based Donaldson. “Specifically, he has been instrumental in the development of electrospinning capabilities and Donaldson’s proprietary Ultra-Web technology, the world’s standard for advanced nanofiber air filtration. Everyone at Donaldson congratulates Young on this well-deserved accomplishment.”
