Two Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration committees meet today, Oct. 27, and Tuesday, Oct. 28, to discuss drivers’ use of Schedule II drugs (like painkillers and amphetamines), the agency’s work on raising liability insurance minimums for carriers and the future of the cross-border trucking program.
The Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee is meeting jointly with the agency’s Medical Review Board Oct. 27 to discuss Schedule II medication use and its impact on safety. The MRB will present findings to MCSAC on research it’s done on the matter.
MCSAC will meet by itself Tuesday to discuss the insurance rulemaking and cross-border trucking with Mexico, as the agency’s three-year pilot program expired this month.
The meetings will take place at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town in Alexandria, Va., and they’re open to the public.
