EBK Manufacturing, a cellular accessories supplier to the travel plaza industry, announced at The NATSO Show a new mobile broadband antenna program exclusive to the travel plaza industry and the NATSO Travel Plaza network. The program includes mobile broadband antennas, adapter cables, an in-store retail rack, a virtual store and tech support.

“The most explosive growth area in both the cellular and broadband industries is in mobile broadband access to the Internet,” says John Reynolds, EBK program developer. “The number of truck drivers, RV enthusiasts, vacationers, business travelers and consumers in general that access the Internet from mobile wireless devices will double to 200 million in the U.S. this year and is projected to reach 300 million users by 2015. By the end of 2011, we will see over 70 million mobile broadband modems in use in the U.S. Those numbers represent a very attractive market opportunity for truckstop and travel plaza operators.”

The EBK BandMaster mobile broadband antenna line is made up of four antennas covering a wide spectrum of mobile and stationary antenna applications. The company’s in-store offerings also include two adapter cables that cover 70 percent of the market with an additional 20 adapter cables available online for 100 percent coverage.

“Our primary goal while developing this program was to enable the travel plaza industry to aggressively participate in an explosive market while minimizing missed sales, inventory costs and product obsolescence,” Reynolds says. “In the cellular antenna retail arena, missed sales begin with a confusing selection process for the customer and ends with dead inventory for the retailer. Our products and program have effectively resolved these issues.”

The BandMaster antenna line from EBK is a Travel Plaza exclusive program. The program features an in-store self-selling display, self-selling antenna packaging, “Try it before you buy it” adapter packaging and a virtual store – all designed to educate truck drivers and other consumers, and to simplify the buying process.

The virtual store offers consumers extensive product and application information, technical support and customer service contacts, and the ability to buy products that are not available in the retail store. Consumers can access the virtual store by using a Travel Plaza location’s unique store code that ties all purchases back to that location.

“You can only expect so much from the internal antenna in mobile broadband modems,” Reynolds says. “BandMaster antennas are a perfect fit for today’s mobile broadband user. They enhance the performance of all mobile broadband modems by increasing speeds and range, and will help with offering DSL or cable modem quality in a mobile environment.”
