EPA accepting diesel grant applications through June 17

Updated May 21, 2014

The Environmental Protection Agency is accepting applications from fleets through June 17 for a total of $9 million in funding for projects to reduce diesel pollution and emissions.

The EPA began its Diesel Emission Reduction Program in 2008. Since then, it has distributed 600 grants for the most cost-effective projects and the poorest air quality regions.

The EPA anticipates awarding 10-20 assistance agreements for exhaust control, idle reduction and vehicle or engine replacement. Truck, bus, marine, locomotives and fleets that use diesel engines are eligible.
