The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration announced Dec. 20 it plans to hold a listening session to ask for ideas and information on training entry-level truck drivers in anticipation of a rulemaking that would implement some type of training requirements for new drivers, per provisions in the MAP-21 highway funding bill passed in June.
FMCSA says in the announcement it’s looking for ideas supported by research and data. The session will be held at the American Bus ASsociation Marketplace meeting in Charlotte, N.C., Jan. 7 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m in Room 207 of the Charlotte Convention Center — 501 S. College Street, Charlotte, N.C., 28202.
All comments will be transcribed and placed in the docket, and the entirety of both sessions will be webcast.
