The Healthy Trucking Association of America has entered into an alliance with Walgreens to offer discounted flu shots to truck drivers at Walgreens locations nationwide. Through this partnership, professional drivers can receive a low-cost flu shots at work or obtain discount vouchers they can take to any Walgreens to receive their HTAA flu shot discount.
“Drivers have unique issues in regard to contracting the flu,” says Bill Gordon, HTAA executive director. “Due to their constant travel, professional drivers are in a position in which they can be exposed to the flu virus in multiple locations around the country, and that same travel schedule also puts them in position to accidentally spread the flu all over the country once they have been exposed to the virus.”
The HTAA will be posting information about the new discount flu shot program on its Website at http://healthytruck.org. Drivers will be able to visit the Website to download discount flu shot vouchers, and trucking fleets can download vouchers to distribute to their drivers and other employees. Trucking companies and travel plaza operators also will be able to sign up on the website to have flu shot clinics set up onsite at terminals and truckstops to service large numbers of drivers.
