Hendrickson made several announcements last week at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.:

  • Hendrickson Auxiliary Axle Systems announced Shipping on Demand (SOD), a program that allows customers to order selected lift axles and have them shipped straight from the factory within 48 hours or less. There is need to have products readily available without the hassle of warehouse fees or inventorying the product, and this program is designed to help meet those needs and more, Hendrickson officials say.
  • As a member, SOD lift axles are shipped straight from the factory within 48 hours or less. Freight is prepaid and added to an invoice, allowing customers to save costs by taking advantage of Hendrickson’s discounted freight rates. In addition, for every SOD order placed, members will accumulate SOD points that may be redeemed for cash, free freight or even a free SOD lift axle. All SOD lift axles are backed by Hendrickson’s five-year limited warranty.

The company currently is stocking quantities of two product offerings under the program: Composilite ST and HLM-2. As interest in the program grows, additional lift axle models will be added. To become a member of the Shipping on Demand program or for additional information, call Hendrickson Auxiliary Axle Systems at 800-660-2829 or go to www.hendrickson-intl.com.

  • Hendrickson Truck Systems Group officials announced the launch of Parasteer HD, a front air suspension designed for twin- and tri-steer specialty applications at Autocar. Parasteer HD is offered as a 14,600- and 20,000- pound per axle rating option on the Autocar ACX chassis. The system is targeted for use in a variety of vocational and construction applications, including concrete, crane, tank and other specialty trucks.
  • According to the company, Parasteer HD is a uniquely designed suspension with no fixed steer axle spacing constraints, providing excellent axle spacing flexibility and allowing the end-user, chassis manufacturer and body manufacturer to work together to obtain the optimum weight distribution for the application; the weight of the Parasteer HD system remains constant as steer axle spacing increases. Parasteer HD also is designed to provide a superior turning radius in addition to outstanding performance and handling; load equalization is achieved with a height control valve designed to adjust to the load, resulting in a constant ride height and comfortable ride.

Each Parasteer HD suspension utilizes two heavy-duty air springs per steer axle designed to share the load equally, facilitating excellent ride and performance; the air springs support the entire vertical load, cushioning the driver by isolating impacts from the road and offering more protection to the chassis and equipment. In addition, oversized rubber bushings require no lubrication, resulting in reduced regular maintenance, the company says.

  • The Primaax EX heavy-duty vocational rear air suspension now is available in tridem configurations for Daimler Trucks North America chassis, including Freightliner and Western Star. The Primaax EX will be available in capacities of 23,000, 46,000 and 52,000 pounds for Freightliner Century Class, Cascadia, Columbia, FLD SD and Business Class M2 truck models; and Western Star 4900 and 6900 models. Primaax EX also will be available in tridem configurations rated at 69,000 pounds for all Western Star models, and the Business Class M2 112 and FLD SD chassis.
  • By expanding the product offering to include tridems at DTNA, Hendrickson says it is able to expand its presence in core specialty markets such as concrete, logging and oilfield, where durability and roll stability are crucial.

  • Hendrickson says its weight-saving Softek integrated front suspension and steer axle system now comes standard on International LoneStar trucks. Softek also will be available as an option on the International ProStar series.
  • Hendrickson Truck Suspension Systems officials announced the debut of the Steertek axle on International’s LoneStar and ProStar multilink front suspension systems. The International proprietary 12,350-pound-capacity front air suspension with the fabricated Steertek axle begins rolling off production lines this month.
