SmartDrive Systems, a provider of driving performance systems to reduce collisions and improve fuel efficiency, announced that Kenco, a provider of integrated logistics, real estate services, and material handling equipment, has selected SmartDrive’s event recording system for roll-out across its entire nationwide fleet to improve safety and lower costs.

With insurance costs on the rise, Kenco sought a video-based safety systems that provides actionable insight into safety events, but also includes a structured coaching workflow to facilitate consistent implementation of the SmartDrive program across the fleet.

“Safety is a priority for our company and we continue to invest in solutions that help us reduce risk while improving operational efficiency,” said Jeff Tanner, vice president of risk management for Kenco Management Services. “Through our partnership with SmartDrive, we expect that we will be able to better manage our operational costs and deliver outstanding service, all while protecting customers’ freight and keeping our drivers safe.”

SmartDrive says its open-platform approach captures a broad spectrum of risk so that fleets can focus on coaching the right drivers at the right time. Kenco plans to leverage SmartDrive’s Response Center and its “3-Steps to Coach” workflow which includes the following:

  • Video event player with an interactive Active Safety System gauge, providing a single, unified view of driving insight that includes active safety system data plus driving and vehicle data
  • Real-time email alerts that notify supervisors and managers when critical safety events occur —separating “no risk” from “high risk” events
  • Interactive dashboards and reports with program KPIs and analytics appropriate to each level of management—from executive, to manager and supervisor

“We are proud to have been selected as a partner by Kenco, a company that understands every second counts when it comes to safety,” said Steve Mitgang, CEO of SmartDrive.
