A Kenworth 7-axle T880 short hood mixer with a Paccar MX-11 engine will serve as the company’s showcase truck at World of Concrete Feb. 2-5 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The mixer represents a new T880 configuration developed to provide contractors with a more maneuverable 80,000-pound federal bridge formula truck that can haul up to 12 yards of concrete, Kenworth says.

The new MX-11 engine is a key component to this, as it weighs in 400 pounds lighter than 13-liter engines to allow for higher payload capacity. Kenworth says the engine provides “ample low-end power for applications requiring less than 450 horsepower.”

In addition to the T880 short hood, World of Concrete attendees can see the following Kenworth trucks at the show:

  • Kenworth T880 short hood with a 10.5-yard standard mixer and MX-11 engine
  • A twin-steer Kenworth T880 with a 12-yard mixer, MX-13 engine and a Simard Twin Steer conversion to make the truck compatible with Ontario’s vehicle weight and dimension regulations
  • A 5-axle Kenworth W900S with an 11-yard mixer, MX-11 engine and Allison 4700RDS 7-speed automatic transmission
  • A 4-axle Kenworth W900S with a 10.5-yard mixer and MX-9 engine

The recent addition of the MX-11, designed to produce up to 430-hp and 1,550 lb-ft of torque, is available for the T880 and T880 short hood, as well as the T680, T800 with FEPTO, and W900S.
