The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee will meet Monday-Wednesday, May 21-23. During the first two days, MCSAC will consider ideas and concepts to address certain open recommendations of the National Transportation Safety Board. The third and final day will be reserved for MCSAC’s Cross-Border trucking subcommittee and the Motorcoach Hours-of-Service subcommittee.

The meetings are open to the public and will be held Monday and Tuesday, May 21 and 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET; and Wednesday, May 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET. The meetings will be at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town, 1767 King St., Alexandria, Va., in the Washington and Jefferson Rooms on the second floor.

Four of the 17 Mexican carriers that have applied for operating authority through FMCSA’s pilot program now have completed the Pre-Authorization Safety Audit required for participation. The agency rescinded the preliminary approval of one of those applicants, Grupo Behr, pending further investigation.

Additionally, two other Mexican carriers have dropped out of the applicant pool. In March, FMCSA dismissed Autotransportes Libre Comercio because of a conditional safety rating, and Trinity Industries De Mexico withdrew because of internal issues.
