California Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday, Jan. 5, announced his reappointment of Mary Nichols as chairman of the California Air Resources Board.
“I am delighted to join the Brown administration and be reappointed as chairman of the California Air Resources Board,” Nichols says. “I look forward to continuing the work of ARB to clean California’s air, protect the public’s health and help drive the development of clean and more efficient energy sources and technologies to power our state’s economy and generate new green jobs.”
California’s Legislature established CARB in 1967 to attain and maintain healthy air quality, conduct research into the causes of and solutions to air pollution, and systematically attack the problems caused by motor vehicles, which the state deems as a major cause of its air pollution.
