omnitracs_mcp50_straight_72dpiOmnitracs, a provider of fleet management systems, announced the availability of its In-Cab Scanning application on the Mobile Computing Platform 50 (MCP50). Additionally, the Critical Event Reporting  (CER) applications on MCP50 now supports speeding alerts and additional third-party devices from Meritor On-Guard and Bendix Wingman that focus on collision mitigation and roll stability.

With In-Cab Scanning, drivers are able to scan and transmit documents such as trip and mileage reports, timesheets, and receipts from the cab of the truck. The option will become available during the fourth quarter of 2014. Prior to becoming available for the MCP50, the In-Cab Scanning application was supported by Omnitracs Mobile Computing Platforms 110 and 200 (MCP 110 and MCP200).

With the inclusion of speeding alerts and additional vendor options for Critical Event Reporting, Omnitracs says it delivers a comprehensive, actionable view of safety-oriented, event-driven data summarized by vehicle and driver. CER sends alerts in near real-time from third-party devices that focus on collision mitigation and roll stability including Meritor On-Guard and Bendix Wingman.

“Omnitracs remains committed to ongoing product enhancements, designed to improve the return on our customers’ investments in mobile fleet management technology,” said Dan Speicher, chief technology officer at Omnitracs. “With the availability of In-Cab Scanning as well as speeding alerts and supplementary vendor options for CER, fleets using our cost-effective MCP50 can now make more proactive, intelligent business decisions to improve efficiency and safety, ensuring a healthier bottom line.”
