Omnitracs, a provider of fleet management systems for transportation and logistics companies, announced  the appointment of veteran marketing executive Jim Gardner as vice president of marketing. With more than 20 years of experience in optimizing marketing programs and accelerating business to business (B2B) company growth, Gardner will lead Omnitracs’ marketing strategy, focusing on branding, communications and market development efforts.

“The Omnitracs business portfolio has grown significantly over the past few years, with new product innovations and the acquisitions of Sylectus, Roadnet and, most recently, XRS Corporation,” said Gardner. “I look forward to spearheading the marketing communications strategy to strengthen awareness of the Omnitracs brand and its market influence, positioning the company for continued growth.”

Gardner comes to Omnitracs from Strategy180, a consulting firm specializing in marketing and branding strategies, where he led the company for eight years as president and principal advisor. His client roster included a number of software and technology leaders. Prior to launching Strategy 180 in 2006, Gardner served as vice president of marketing and investor relations at Somera Communications and director of corporate marketing and global training at Intervoice, now Convergys.

“Jim brings extensive market and brand development expertise to Omnitracs,” said David Vice, chief sales officer of Omnitracs. “His technology background and knowledge of the software as a service (SaaS) industry, coupled with strategic vision and strong leadership skills, will be invaluable to Omnitracs as we integrate our new business units into the brand portfolio.”
