168hrs since begining last 34hr restart. Really!!!!! Guess we go back to the old "rolling 70".  Back to logging 8.75 a day!?? Take a half hour from our 14hr day making a mandatory 13.5 day now?! Nothing like legislating backwards is it.

We like every other compliance minded safe trucking company have gone through several log book classes soley on the new rules set forth by our federal system.  Are we ready???? Only time will tell.  we are in the pipe hauling business ( we deliver pipe to the new drilling sites all over the United States)  and this is really going to screw our drivers. We use the restart button every chance we get and now with the new 1:00 to 5:00 am  consecutive rule it is a new ball game.

I took verbatem from the list(s) of changes and give it to all my drivers and had them sign an acknowledgement of the changes. I tried to cover them as much as possible, and I also ensured the company is covered by the acknowledgment.

I am still waiting for J. J. Keller to get me the software update. I was told that I am on a waiting list. I really don't want to audit all these logs by hand starting July 1.

I am still waiting on the courts to make the final decision. Ferro needs to work for the people and not base decisions on  her own ignorance. Until then, must do what we have to do.

As the safety director of 11 trucks here in west-central Wisconsin, I have versed the new rules to the drivers during orientation, the bi-annual safety meeting, email, and also in text messages over the last few months.  Minus actually sitting in the cab with the drivers and telling them what to do and when to do it...I only hope and pray they follow thru on what I told them.  I don't like to micromanage them as much as they don't want a babysitter in the truck with them.  So I am going to assume like everyone else, July 1st comes and goes as well as Y2K fanfare...quiet and into the history books as nothing but a whimper.
