For the third consecutive year Qualcomm Incorporated will donate $25,000 to Wreaths Across America (WAA), a nonprofit organization whose mission to Remember, Honor, and Teach is carried out in part each year by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies on National Wreaths Across America Day each December.

This year’s contribution will include delivery of enough wreaths to again cover every headstone at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, with additional quantities to Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery and Arlington National Cemetery. Qualcomm has supported WAA’s effort locally since 2010 and was responsible for initiating the program at Miramar National Cemetery.

Wreath-laying ceremonies to honor America’s fallen soldiers and their families will take place at these and more than 800 additional locations across the United States and overseas on National Wreaths Across America Day — Dec. 15, 2012. In 2011, more than 325,000 wreaths were placed on headstones at more than 700 locations in every state and overseas with the assistance of nearly 180,000 volunteers.

“We are proud and honored to be able to join with so many others in the trucking industry to support Wreaths Across America in its annual initiative to acknowledge the sacrifices of the many veterans who have been laid to rest at these sacred places,” said Rich Sulpizio, CEO and president, Qualcomm Enterprise Services, a division of Qualcomm. “We applaud Wreaths Across America and the thousands of volunteers who participate in this significant undertaking each December.”

“The loss of our men and women in the armed forces can be felt in every state in the land. Whether it’s the yellow ribbons in our yards or the American flags that hang from doorways, it’s important to somehow let those we’ve lost know we will remember them, honor their sacrifice and teach the next generation about the cost of freedom,” said Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America. “Without the support of organizations like Qualcomm, we would not be able to fulfill this mission. We are incredibly grateful for their continued support and commitment to our veterans.”
