Reports: Freightliner, Western Star to lay off about 1,300 workers

Ftl Cascadia 008 LFreightliner and Western Star parent company Daimler Trucks North America issued notices to workers this week that large layoffs could be coming to plants across the country, according to multiple reports. 

According to a report from The Portland Business Journal, Daimler spokesman David Giroux said more details will be released Thursday. The Vancouver, Wash.-based website The Columbian says the notice to DTNA employees said that layoffs could come at plants in North Carolina, South Carolina, Oregon and Mexico, and that the notification is being given two months in advance per a federal law.
