Ryder’s Martin to speak at UT Supply Chain Forum

Ryder System today announced that Steve W. Martin, Vice President of Operations for Ryder Supply Chain Solutions, will participate in the “Transportation Management Best Practices” panel at the University of Tennessee’s Supply Chain Forum, which will take place Nov. 6-8 at the Knoxville Marriott. Mr. Martin, who is responsible for the growth and operational execution of customized transportation solutions for Ryder customers, will discuss the headwinds transportation providers are facing as well as strategies, tactics, and technologies to overcome them.

The University of Tennessee’s Supply Chain Forum is a twice-yearly gathering of corporate leaders, professors and students to share ideas about the latest supply chain issues. More than 150 vice presidents, directors, and managers from more than 50 top corporations take part in the Forum.

“At Ryder, we purchase and/or execute more than $4.2 billion in freight moves annually on behalf of our customers and we partner with more than 1,700 carriers to transport goods,” said Mr. Martin. “We can leverage the breadth of these resources to provide our customers with the flexibility and expertise they need to manage their freight effectively, especially as capacity continues to be tight in an uncertain economy.”

The panel in which Mr. Martin will participate, “Transportation Management Best Practices,” will take place Nov. 7 at 2:30 p.m. For more information on the University of Tennessee’s Supply Chain Forum, visit http://bus.utk.edu/supplychain/
