SkyBitz debuts solar-powered asset tracking system

SkyBitz announced a new solar-powered global positioning satellite (GPS) asset tracking system, the Falcon GXT5000.

The new system uses 3G/4G cellular networks for transportation, intermodal shipments, and other markets that rely on mobile assets.

KKW Trucking, a Pomona, California-based truckload carrier operating in 11 western states, upgraded its fleet of over 1,000 dry-van trailers to the Falcon GXT5000. Long service life, easy install and hassle-free asset tracking were attractive design features that led KKW Trucking to adopt the solar-based product.

“Since we started using the SkyBitz Falcon GXT5000, I’ve been particularly impressed with the accurate location and status reporting we’ve received and just how quick and easy it was to install the units on our trailers,” said Brandon Krueger, IT director of KKW Trucking. “Because the GXT5000 uses solar power to charge its batteries, we don’t have to worry about switching those out anymore. In addition to evolving its products, SkyBitz has provided us with a consultative service approach throughout our partnership, it has been an exceptional customer experience.”

The Falcon GXT5000 is configurable over-the-air and provides on-demand reporting with analytic dashboards that help improve on-time deliveries and reduce time wasted searching for available trailers/assets.

Additional features of the Falcon GXT5000 include:

·         A low-profile, self-contained, rugged design

·         Reporting for 90-120 days without direct exposure to sunlight

·         Easy and flexible installation (less than 15 minutes on average to install)

·         Supports cargo status data via sensors

·         More intelligent and responsive self-diagnostics, allowing for over-the-air troubleshooting.

Companies can start deploying SkyBitz’s asset management solutions across their fleets without any upfront capital expense through the subscription-based enterprise solution, SkyBitz as a Service.
