Plans for a fast-fill, “state-of-the-art” compressed natural gas fueling station are underway for the intersection of I-95 and Georgia’s State Highway 21 near Savannah. The project is expected to be completed in the second of of 2013 and is funded in party by a grant from AGL’s Compressed Natural Gas Infrastructure Program.
Enmark, a fuel retailer based in Savannah, will raze the already-existing facility currently on the site and rebuild the new CNG station. “Many fleet owners have reached the tipping point on natural gas, as NGV options and reliability have improved while diese prices remain stubbornly high and volatile,” says McLeod Rominger, who works in marketing for the Colonial Group, the energy company that owns Enmark. “Increasingly, fleet owners are finding natural gas is a compelling alternative to diesel fuel.”
Colonial is also planning Enmark compressed natural gas fueling stations for Jacksonville, Fla., and Charleston, S.C., for early 2014.
