Sterling Truck Corp. has a new vehicle in its lineup: the Sterling Bullet. The Redford, Mich.-based truck maker introduced its latest chassis-cab product Tuesday, March 6, at the NTEA Work Truck Show 2007 in Indianapolis. The Bullet is the latest addition to the company’s full line of Class 3-8 work trucks and will be available at select Sterling dealerships in late fall 2007.

The Bullet joins the low cab-over Sterling 360 to round out the company’s mid-range vehicle lineup. Competing in the Class 4 and 5 markets, the Bullet is suited for demanding applications such as construction, residential services, landscaping, municipal services, utility, and pickup and delivery.

“Together with the Sterling 360, the Bullet makes Sterling the only commercial vehicle manufacturer to offer a complete line of Class 3-8 vehicles,” says Matthew Stevenson, director of light commercial vehicles for Sterling Truck Corp. “We gave this truck the tagline ‘Nothing Stops The Bullet’ because there isn’t an application this truck can’t tackle. Like all Sterling trucks, the Bullet can be customized for the demands of any job.”

Sterling says several impressive features come standard on the Bullet, including a powerful Cummins 6.7L ISB engine with exhaust brake, a power take-off prep package, and a rugged 34-inch wide, 50,000 psi frame for easy body builder upfit. Boasting numerous options, the Bullet is offered as a regular cab in four wheelbases or as a quad cab in two wheelbases. It also features two- or four-wheel drive and optional snowplow and towing packages.

Sterling says drivers will appreciate the smooth shifting manual or the optional fuel-saving automatic transmission. Standard air conditioning, easy-to-read gauges and an adjustable tilt steering wheel are intended to reduce operator fatigue, while driver and passenger airbags help make the Bullet a safe operating environment.

Notable base model options include cruise control, fog lights, power windows and locks, power trailer tow mirrors and numerous radio options. A premium interior package is available, and features options such as a navigation radio with available GPS, a cloth six-way power seat, an Infinity MP3/CD player and much more.

    Goodyear tires selected as standard
Sterling selected Goodyear Unisteel tires in size 225/70R19.5 for the all-new model that complements the company’s light-duty commercial truck offering.

Goodyear says it new G622 RSD regional service drive tire meets the tough demands of urban pickup and delivery work. An aggressive “blading scheme” and stiffened shoulders are designed to deliver improved traction and even wear, says Rich Cottrell, original-equipment account executive for Akron, Ohio-based Goodyear.

The Bullet also rides on the G647 RSS tire for severe regional service. An exclusive high scrub-resistant tread compound is designed to provide optimal service in tough pickup and delivery applications where turning, braking and backing are extreme.

Both tires are manufactured at Goodyear’s facility in Topeka, Kan. “We’re obviously excited to be standard equipment on this exciting new work truck,” Cottrell says. “With the motto, ‘Nothing Stops the Bullet,’ our tires had to offer the toughness and stable ride built into the Sterling Bullet. The new G622 RSD and G647 RSS tires definitely fit the image of a work truck that cannot be stopped by adverse jobsite conditions. Goodyear’s work tires, robust in toughness and traction and resistant to extreme tread wear forces, help ensure the reliability of the Bullet.”
