Tacoma port’s container volumes surge in August

The Port of Tacoma, Wash., reported international container volumes posted a 14.5 percent gain year to date as Asia’s peak shipping season began ramping up for the holiday shopping season.

The port said it handled 156,804 20 foot-equivalent units in August, nearly 30 percent more than the same month last year.
