The Teamsters union this week re-elected General President Jim Hoffa against two challengers by a 60 percent margin. Hoffa received 137,172 votes, which was 83,024 more votes than contender Fred Gegare, a Teamsters vice president.

Union members also approved Hoffa’s slate of running mates, including General Secretary-Treasurer Ken Hall, according to the Office of the Election Supervisor’s final tabulations.

Hoffa has held office for nearly 13 years and will begin his next five-year term in March. His longevity as general president has been outranked only by Dan Tobin’s 47-year term and that of his late father, James R. Hoffa, who led for 14 years before his disappearance in 1975. He later was declared legally dead.
