TeleNav and Sendum announced the availability of the Sendum PT200 tracking device for Sprint wireless enterprise customers using the TeleNav Asset Tracker platform. The device provides accurate location information, allowing TeleNav Asset Tracker users to monitor the real-time location of assets, such as high-value packages, cargo or equipment using a secure Web-based portal.

Sendum’s PT200 tracking hardware with the TeleNav Asset Tracker platform helps organizations involved in shipping, distribution and transportation improve the speed and accuracy with which they locate and dispatch equipment and assets, the companies say.

The Sendum PT200 is a portable, rugged tracking device that can be placed easily in packages and containers or mounted to assets such as machinery or vehicles. The device uses assisted GPS, a technology combining GPS satellite and cellular tower triangulation data, to provide accurate location information in conditions where most autonomous GPS receivers are unable to get a location fix. The Sendum PT200 also is designed for extreme conditions, working in temperatures ranging from -20 to +60 degrees Celsius (-4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit).

The software uses a detailed, animated map to allow for easy identification of an asset’s location or the path of a moving asset. Real-time alerts also can be configured to send notification of geofence events, extended stops or loss of communication with the device.

“We believe the Sendum PT200 provides the precision and durability our customers require to use our TeleNav Asset Tracker software in their daily operations,” says Ravi Acharya, associate director of B2B marketing at TeleNav.

The TeleNav Asset Tracker platform using the Sendum PT200 is available now to Sprint wireless customers. A monthly subscription to TeleNav Asset Tracker service and a Sprint data plan are required to use the service.
