isuzu-cars-logo-emblemOn Oct. 23, Isuzu Commercial Truck of America became the eighth original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to partner with Telogis to offer telematics as a factory-fit option.

A number of OEMs now embed telematics platforms in their vehicles to capture and monitor advanced engine diagnostics data in an effort to help their fleet customers maximize the availability, or up time, of equipment.

By using the Telogis platform, OEMs can capture telematics data while giving their customers the freedom to use any device of their choosing to run the fleet management applications on Telogis’ SaaS-based platform. These applications include commercial navigation, compliance, telematics, route optimization, work order management and mobile integration services.

Isuzu, a distributor of low-cab-forward trucks, says its exclusive collaboration with Telogis will improve the overall ownership experience for its customers.

Shaun Skinner, executive vice president and general manager of Isuzu Commercial Truck of America, made the announcement in Albuquerque, N.M., at a dealer meeting celebrating Isuzu’s 30th anniversary in the United States.

“Today, Isuzu defines its connected vehicle and telematics strategy by collaborating with Telogis. We chose Telogis because of their focus on innovation, and their industry-leading experience with built-in OEM location intelligence solutions, with a mutual goal of providing Isuzu customers with the very best ownership experience in the medium-duty truck market,” said Skinner.

“The combination of Isuzu’s leadership in the low-cab-forward commercial truck market and the innovative solutions on the Telogis platform will deliver significant cost savings and operational efficiencies for Isuzu customers,” said Susan Heystee, executive vice president, worldwide sales, Telogis. “This next-generation technology brings Isuzu Truck built-in connectivity and intelligence that can only be achieved through this kind of collaboration with the manufacturer.”
