Thermo King details ATA exhibits

Thermo King says it will showcase its most environmentally sensitive diesel trailer temperature control system at the Thermo King booth #1101, and highlights cargo assurance solutions that include: food temperature and door monitoring sensors; a fleet asset management system; and units designed to enable users to easily launch a temperature monitoring program.

“More than ever before, it’s critical that customers adhere to the highest transport standards for food quality and safety,” said Doug Lenz, vice president of product management and marketing for Thermo King, a manufacturer of transport temperature control systems for a variety of mobile applications and a brand of Ingersoll Rand. “In this competitive business environment, customers need solutions that deliver on low ownership cost while reducing environmental impact.”

According to Lenz, the Precedent S-600M transport refrigeration unit featured at the show lowers the total cost of ownership while offering enhanced reliability and reduced fuel costs.

The Precedent S-600M for multi-temperature operations, which will be available for order on Nov. 1, 2013, is the most environmentally sensitive diesel trailer temperature control system that Thermo King offers. This solution was designed to meet changing industry regulations and help food distribution customers achieve sustainability objectives and reduce high fuel costs. The S-600M features a completely new diesel direct electric (DDE) architecture that drives optimum efficiencies and helps lower the overall cost of ownership for food distributors.

Thermo King collaborated with PSA Peugeot Citroën, one of the world’s largest diesel engine manufacturers, to develop a diesel engine for the S-600M that meets the most stringent requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Tier IV Final regulations. The engine features emission technologies that exclude the use of a diesel particulate filter in meeting the requirements of the EPA regulations.

The Precedent platform with DDE architecture offers multi-temperature customers flexibility in unit configuration. Customers can now order all Precedent multi-temperature models with Thermo King Smart Power, which allows the units to be operated off electrical power in stationary applications.
