Robert L. McCoy, founder of the McCoy Group, Inc., passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at his home in Las Vegas, NV at 86 years of age. The McCoy Group is the largest group Freightliner dealer in the country.

Bob started the company that would grow to become McCoy Group, Inc. with one truck, hauling milk from Shullsburg, WI in 1954. A short time later, he joined with two partners to form Mc-Mor-Han Trucking, where Bob ran operations and was the driving force in the business.

Truck Country, the business of selling and servicing trucks, was started in 1958 with GMC trucks, later adding Freightliner trucks to the offering. Over the years, Bob’s sons Mike, Jack and Bob, Jr. joined with Bob to grow the company to include commercial truck leasing, tow truck sales and service, three transportation divisions, and 12 full service Truck Country locations throughout Iowa and Wisconsin.

Bob’s grandsons, Doug, Brian, Greg and Jon McCoy are now in leadership positions in the six divisions that comprise the McCoy Group today, and are going forward with Bob’s original uncompromising commitment to serving the customer.

Funeral arrangements in Shullsburg, WI are pending.
