Verizon buys Telogis, broadens reach of connected vehicle tech

Telogis Navigation 3 2Verizon Communications has signed an agreement to purchase Telogis, Inc., a private company based in Aliso Viejo, Calif.

The purchase will add Telogis’ software-as-a-service (SaaS) technology and connected vehicle and mobile enterprise management technology — as well as expanded distribution relationships — to its Verizon Telematics subsidiary.

“The combined strengths of our two companies’ unique assets better enable us to deliver best-in-class mobile enterprise management services to customers globally, while building scale and accelerating market share,” said AndrĂ©s Irlando, CEO of Verizon Telematics.

“Verizon provides the brand equity, strength in the market, broad infrastructure and expansive global reach to take Telogis to the next level,” said David Cozzens, CEO, Telogis.

Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. The acquisition is subject to customary regulatory approvals and is expected to close in the second half of 2016.

Verizon Telematics operates in more than 40 markets worldwide and offers technology and services to consumers, enterprises, automakers and dealers to power connected-vehicle products.
