Trucking data company Vigillo will be holding three free webinars that each will discuss impending changes set to take place to the Federal Motor Carrier’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability program and its Safety Measurement System in December.

The webinars will cover more than a dozen changes to the SMS, says Vigillo founder Steve Bryan, “with perhaps the most significant change being the replacement of the Cargo BASIC with the new Hazmat BASIC,” he says. “It’s important for every carrier to understand what these changes are and not be caught off guard.”

The webinars will be held:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. EST
  • Wednesday Nov. 28 at 11:30 a.m. EST
  • Thursday Nov. 29 at 1 p.m. EST

In March 2012, FMCSA allowed enforcement personnel and motor carriers to preview and comment on proposed changes to SMS, CSA’s program for analyzing all safety-based violations from inspections and crash data to determine a commercial motor carrier’s on-road performance. After review and consideration of the comments received, the FMCSA published its response in the Federal Register in August 2012 with the changes to be implemented by December 2012.
