American Central Transport has increased the pay for independent contractors with a hazmat endorsement to $1 per loaded mile on every load they haul for ACT, including non- hazmat loads.

“We’re excited to offer top pay to owner-operators who have all their credentials,” says Chad Still, ACT recruiting manager. “Even though less than 5 percent of our freight is hazmat, we’re offering premium pay for everything our contractors are hauling. Paying well has always been one of our core values. We’ve always preferred to keep our pay in the top 5 percent to 10 percent. We know that costs are going up, and we want to partner with our contractors to see that they’re successful and that their businesses continue to make money.”

Still says ACT contractors in the process of getting their hazmat will receive 94 cents per mile while they’re waiting, with an automatic increase to $1 per loaded mile once their credentials are received successfully.
