ATA presses for fuel tax bump as fix for highway funding, calls tolls ‘massive waste’

As an alternative to Trump’s plan to use tolls and incentives for private investors to bolster highway funding, ATA has called for raising the per-gallon fuel tax rate a nickel a year for four years. ATA says studies show consistently “show the shortfalls of tolling and the unintended consequences that tolls impose on motorists and surrounding communities.”
