Fikes Truck Line is closing its doors, but Blair Logistics out of Birmingham, Ala., will continue to operate the business that formerly ran as Fikes, according to the Arkansas Trucking Association.

Blair will continue to operate out of the Fikes terminal in Hope, Ark. Some employees and owner-operators will be retained under Blair.

Fikes President and CEO Gary Salisbury said he felt it was “very important to talk to the same people, same dispatcher, same safety people they have been talking to for the past 30 years,” according to the state trucking association’s website.

The recession and costly lawsuits were cited as reasons for Fikes difficulties.

Salisbury was retained as a consultant to Blair. He will also keep the FTL Custom Commodities fleet, which will move to a new location in Hope.
