Senate bill sets e-log, carrier fitness determination deadlines for FMCSA
The Senate’s version of the annual appropriations bill for the DOT contains language that would prevent FMCSA from dragging its feet in producing a final electronic logging device mandate rule. It also requires the agency to produce a Safety Fitness Determination rule by December.

OOIDA has sent Anthony Foxx a letter asking for FMCSA head Anne Ferro to resign, saying she has a “clear bias against truckers and the trucking industry” and that the agency “can no longer perform its regulatory and enforcement duties impartially.”

Trucking adds 1,500 jobs in May, economy adds 217k
The for-hire trucking industry added 1,500 jobs in May on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the monthly employment report released June 6 by the Dept. of Labor. The U.S. economy as a whole added 217,000 jobs in the month.
