CCJ has won a Jesse H. Neal Award, which recognizes excellence in business journalism, for its in-depth coverage last year of the industry’s pressing driver shortage.

CCJ received the Neal Award in the Best Series category for the multi-month “Driver Deficit” series.

The series examines the driver shortage, measuring its impact on trucking operations and exploring methods to mitigate the crisis.

The first part of the series looks at the driver shortage and how it got to where it is now. The second part of the series looks at ways to address the shortage through technology and other driver retention strategies. Finally, the third part of the series looks to the future and who will be coming into the industry to fill empty drivers seats.
