CLI and project44 partner to speed LTL freight communication

Carrier Logistics Inc. (CLI) announced a new integration with project44 that will give carriers another option to electronic data interchange (EDI) feeds commonly used today to connect the freight industry. Using the new connection makes real-time communication possible for carriers of all modes and sizes, the companies say.

The partnership is currently “live” and speeding transactions at Clear Lane Freight Systems of Indianapolis, Ind., and Dohrn Transfer of Rock Island, Ill., both movers of less-than-truckload (LTL) freight.

The new system is used by shippers and 3PLs to connect their IT environments with transportation networks and assets. Its cloud-based API (application program interface) technology outperforms EDI in completing more than 500,000 daily rate requests, dispatches, tracking and imaging calls, and other transactions between carriers and their customers. With this integration, project44 shipper and 3PL (third party logistics) clients can now instantly connect to any carrier using a CLI system.

“3PLs and shippers can connect to all of their transportation service providers effortlessly,” said Ken Weinberg, vice president and co-founder of Carrier Logistics.  “The new system is an excellent alternative to EDI, and systems can be configured to enable rating, dispatch, tracking and imaging calls directly to their carrier networks with one call to project44.”

“Now any carrier using CLI can immediately begin responding to rate quotes, dispatch requests, and provide real-time tracking and images to any of their clients at no additional cost or IT investment,” said Wally Ibrahim, CTO and co-founder of project44.   “Carriers can also take advantage of more advanced capabilities enabled by our Freight APIs such as Dynamic Pricing, driving new lines of revenue, reducing unexpected freight costs, and enabling a more flexible supply chain.”
