The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability safety ratings program has replaced the economy atop the list of the most critical issues facing the trucking industry, the American Transportation Research Institute announced Monday, Oct. 8.

ATRI’s annual survey of the industry’s top 10 most critical issues – released Oct. 8 during American Trucking Associations’ annual Management Conference & Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nev. – revealed that recent and potential changes to the hours-of-service rules ranked No. 2. The state of the U.S. economy – No. 1 for each of the previous three years – fell to No. 3, while the driver shortage ranked No. 4.

The survey of more than 4,000 trucking industry executives is commissioned by ATA.
