Trucking news and briefs for Monday, April 6, 2020:

Roadrunner announces sale of dry van unit
Roadrunner Transportation Systems (No. 31 on the CCJ Top 250) announced this week it has sold a dry van business unit, Stagecoach Cartage and Distribution, to J.H. Rose Logistics. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Stagecoach, based in El Paso, Texas, was part of Roadrunner’s truckload segment.

The sale is the latest in a recent string of downsizing efforts from Roadrunner, which cut 450 jobs from its dry van segment in October, followed by the sale of its flatbed division in December and the sale of its warehousing division in January.

Following Yokohama’s announcement earlier this week that tire production at its Mississippi plant has been halted, the company announced it is temporarily suspending production at its Salem, Virginia, plant.

Yokohama says the controlled shutdown will begin April 5 and last for approximately two weeks.
