Alabama Motor Express acquires Powell Transport
Alabama Motor Express, a 210-truck fleet out of Ashford, Alabama, announced last week it is acquiring the assets of Powell Transportation Solutions and its affiliates, a trucking firm specializing in refrigerated freight. The deal will add 35 reefer trailers to the AMX fleet. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“We’re on a clear path forward,” said Taylor White, Vice President of AMX. “This acquisition is an exciting step as we bolster our position as a leading full-service, logistics provider in the region.”
AMX says Paul Powell, president of Powell, will serve as leader of AMX’s refrigerated services division. AMX also notes that all Powell employees and drivers are expected to retain their positions with AMX.
Fleets invited to participate in annual compensation survey
The American Trucking Associations is soliciting responses from private, for-hire and mixed fleets of all sizes about their driver compensation programs for its annual driver compensation survey report.
“The data you provide will help us create the most comprehensive study on compensation by driver type at the national and regional levels,” the association notes.
For participants in the survey, the final $1,000 report is available for $100. The association adds that fleet participant details are kept strictly confidential, and data is used in an aggregated way only: “If requested, a confidentiality agreement can be arranged.”
